Ellen Burkart, M.S.

Ellen Burkart serves as the Director for Integrated Student Communications at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), where she leads a small team to develop and implement communication strategies that enhance student engagement, retention, and persistence. She optimizes channels like social media, CRM systems, and text outreach to support student success from enrollment to graduation.

Ellen joined UCCS in 2007 and brings over 20 years of experience in student affairs, specializing in enrollment, retention, and persistence initiatives. She has developed multi-platform communication campaigns, implemented data-driven outreach strategies, and secured funding for student programs. Throughout her career, Ellen has fostered collaborative partnerships to improve student outcomes, focusing on initiatives such as Learning Communities, Early Alert, Nearpeer, Mentor Collective, Parent and Family Programs, and First2Go, among others.

A Colorado native, Ellen holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry with a concentration in Business and a Master of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, volunteering, and reading.
